Organizers' reply to the article Opinions of participants of the conference "Our common present"
AbstractThe paper discusses the role of science in social processes tending towards sustainability, with respect notably to its possibility of reflection and critical distance from the (emotionally/ethically) experienced reality. It also shows, however, that combining rigorous science and live environmental issues within a Philosophical Faculty is not at all something granted, because the environment is not – with few exceptions – the object of interest of humanity scholars. The critical attitude to the topic – already demonstrated in the previous polemic – has thus shown another of its dimensions that opens up new possibilities for dialogue.
